Waders / Sandpipers

Sandpipers

Chevaliers — Ruiters

Sandpipers are elegant waders with long legs, regularly seen on the mudflats, marshes and wet meadows along the Vendée coast. Agile and alert, they patrol the water's edge in search of worms, crustaceans and small invertebrates. Their alarm calls, often the first to ring out, betray their presence long before you spot them.
